1. Joe Biden wins the US Presidential election
Democrat Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump to become the 46th president of the United States. His victory came after he crossed 270 Electoral College votes with a win in Pennsylvania. With Joe Biden as president, Kamla Harris makes the history as becoming the country’s first female and first Black vice president. Biden previously served as the 47th vice president from 2009 to 2017.
2. Kamla Harris elected as Vice President of US
Kamala Harris has made history by becoming the first woman vice president of the United States. Harris is the former Attorney general of California and now the first Black woman and African American elected as the vice president. As her mother is from India, she has also becomes the first person of Indian descent to hold the national office in the United States.
3. Joe Biden plans to increase H-1B visa limit
After taking US presidency Biden plans to increase the number of high-skilled visas, including the H-1B, and eliminate the limit on employment-based visas by country. 4. World Radiography Day 2020: 8 November
World Radiography Day is observed every year on 8 November. The day marks the anniversary of the discovery of x-radiation, by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895. The purpose of this day is to raise public awareness of radiographic imaging and therapy, which play a crucial role in the diagnosis and the treatment of patients and, most importantly, ensuring radiation is kept to the minimum required.
5. Syska Grp: Rajkummar Rao new brand ambassador
Syska Group has roped in actor Rajkummar Rao as the new face of the brand. Rao will work closely with the company to promote the Syska products across LED and fan segments. The partnership will also see Syska Group launch a new ad campaign with Rajkummar focusing on LED and fans. The campaign will be executed strategically through leading TV channels.
6. ISRO launches PSLV C-49 carrying EOS-01
ISRO launched the 51st mission of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) on 7 Nov 2020. The carrier vehicle PSLV C49 will deliver 10 satellites in all with EOS-01 as the primary one. The EOS-01, an earth observation satellite, was intended to provide agriculture, forestry and disaster management support. The nine customer satellites are from Lithuania (1), Luxembourg (4) and USA (4).
7. Phase 1 of Malabar exercise concludes
The first phase of the Malabar naval exercise has culminated in the Bay of Bengal on 7 Nov 2020. It saw the participation of the Indian Navy (IN), United States Navy (USN), Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), and Royal Australian Navy. The 24th multinational maritime naval exercise, which started on Nov 3, 2020, was restricted to the sea phase and conducted in zero contact format.
8. Adani takes over Ahmedabad Airport Operations
The AAI completed the procedure to hand
over the SVPI Airport, Ahmedabad (Gujarat), to the private player. Earlier, the Airports Authority of India handed over the Lucknow airport and the Mangaluru airport to the Adani group on lease for a period of 50 years. The ceremonial Handing Over of the Key to AAIAL will mark the new chapter for Ahmedabad Airport.
9. PUBG Mobile inks deal with Microsoft Azure
PUBG Mobile will now be hosted on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform. Krafton Inc, the South-Korean company that owns PUBG Corp.has announced a deal with Microsoft. Products directly operated by Krafton and its subsidiary companies will be hosted on Microsoft’s cloud service. This includes PUBG Mobile, which was banned by the Indian government in September 2020.
10. Judges appointed to the Gauhati High Court
The President in the exercise of the power conferred by clause (I) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, has appointed 3 additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court, as Judges of the Gauhati High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices. The three appointments are Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi, Justice Nani Tagia, and Justice Manish Choudhury.
11. Centre of Excellence at IIT Kharagpur
Union Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has announced the Centre of Excellence for Indian Knowledge System to be set up at IIT Kharagpur. He announced this while inaugurating the international webinar titled “Bharata Tirtha” being organized by the Institute from 6-8 Nov 20. The webinar witnessed talks by international stalwarts pioneering in Indic studies including Arthashastra.
12. Hariharan bags JC Daniel award
Noted filmmaker Hariharan has been selected for the JC Daniel Award, the state government’s highest honour for lifetime contributions to Malayalam cinema. The award carries a purse of Rs 5 lakh, a citation, and a sculpture. Some of the notable works that won critical acclaim include ‘Panchagni’, ‘Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha’, ‘Naghakshathangal’ and ‘Sargam’.
13. Ariel, Tide maker P&G announcea 400 cr fund
Procter& Gamble (P&G) has come up with a Rs 400 crore India Growth Fund. Through the fund, P&G would collaborate with small businesses, startups, and other suppliers to build capacities in order to further localize the manufacturing of finished products and procurement of raw materials and packaging materials. The fund was announced as part of the company’s innovation programme- vGROW.
14. Maria Thattil wins Miss Universe Australia
Indian-origin Maria Thattil was crowned as the Miss Universe Australia 2020 in the first virtual pageant event of Australia. The 16th Edition of beauty pageant Miss Universe Australia 2020 was held on October 28, 2020, at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, Melbourne, Victoria. First runner-up was bagged by Miné Coetser of Pretoria, followed by Tash Galgut (Sydney) as second.
15. EEPC India, NID join hands

16. Biocon receives ₹1,125-cr capital injection
Biocon has approveda ₹1,125-crore ($150 million) capital injection from Goldman Sachs in its subsidiary Biocon Biologics. As per the terms of the proposed agreement, Goldman Sachs will be issued Optionally Convertible Debentures at a post-money equity valuation of USD 3.94 Billion. This capital injection will enable it to make prudent investments in R&D and high-quality manufacturing.
17. Yakshagana artiste Vasudeva Samaga passes away
Senior Yakshagana artiste and well-known Yakshagana ‘Talamaddale Arthadhar” Malpe Vasudeva Samaga passed away in November 2020. He was undergoing treatment for Covid-19 infection for the last few days. Well-versed in both Thenku’ and ‘Badagu Thittu’ style of Yakshagana, Samaga has written over 80 ‘Prasanga’ Works.

21. CSIR-CMERI signs MoU with IDTR
CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur has signed an MoU with Indo-Danish Tool Roorm (IDTR) under the Union Ministry of MSME- Technology Centre, Jamshedpur. The MoU ensures forging a partnership for organizing Joint Workshops for skilling the Youths. 22. Kiren Rijiju inaugurates a course
Union Minister for Youth Affairs 8& Sports Kiren Rijiju has formally inaugurated the redesigned diploma course in Sports Coaching at the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports (NSNIS) Patiala. This is the first time that direct admission has been given to eminent sportspersons to the course. As many as 34 elite sportspersons have joined the course.
23. Adani Enterprises wins Gondulpara mine bid
Adani Enterprises Ltd placed the winning bid for the Gondulpara coal mine in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand, on the sixth day of commercial coal mine auctions. So far, 18 coal mines have been auctioned since the bidding began on 2 Nov 2020. The mines are being awarded on a revenue-sharing basis, while earlier blocks were allocated to companies on the payment of fixed amounts per tonne.
24. Kerala govt grants ₹20 lakh aid
The Kerala govt has granted a fund of ₹20 lakh as financial assistance for the education of children of jail inmates. A total of 15 lakh has been sanctioned for the assistance of their basic education and 75 lakh as aid for their professional studies. The aid is provided as part of the probation services with an aim to bring all these children into the mainstream of society.
25. India CEO forum on Climate Change
The India CEO forum on Climate change was held virtually on 5th November organized by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). It was chaired by Union minister Prakash Javdekar Minister of environment and forest climate change. It is the pioneering initiative of the government, inviting industry representatives, exchanged views on climate change.
26. World’s largest care centre at Kottoor
The Elephant Rehabilitation centre at Kottoor in Thiruvananthapuram is set to become the largest care centre and cure centre for elephants in the world. The project is being implemented at a cost of Rs 108 crore with funding from Kerala Infrastructure Investment Board. The first phase of this centre will be commissioned from February 2021.
27. Gov plans to sell 15% stake in IRCON
The government is planning to sell up to 15 per cent of its stake in railway engineering company IRCON International Ltd. The government currently holds 8918% stake in IRCON International Ltd. At the current market price, the government could raise about 540 crore by selling 15% stake.
28. Australia’s AGL Energy partners with TCS
Tata Consultancy Services, a global IT services, consulting and business solutions organisation, announced it has entered into a strategic partnership with AGL to deliver the latter’s organisation-wide cloud transformation program. 29. AIM launches 14-day virtual Programme

30. Odisha CM inaugurates hydro power Project
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the 24-MW Baitarani Small Hydro Power Project at Singhanali in Odisha’s tribal-dominated Keonjhar district. This Hydropower project is a milestone in the green and renewable energy sector that will help Odisha tackle the environment changes. The Hyderabad-based Baitarani Power Project Private Limited commissioned the hydropower project.
31. Bharti AXA launches cancer awareness drive
Bharti AXA General Insurance has launched a cancer awareness campaign #CancerSendsNoNotifications. It is a special initiative to increase awareness and spread knowledge on detecting the disease early among people in India.
