1. Jacinda Ardern Sworn In For Second Term of NZ
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was sworn in for a second term on 6 Nov. The charismatic leader and her ministers made their oaths of office in English and Maori duringa ceremony at Wellington’s Government House. Serving as the 40th prime minister of New Zealand and leader of the Labour Party since 2017.
2. National Cancer Awareness Day: 7 November
National Cancer Awareness Day is observed every year on November 7 to educate people about cancer. In 2014, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan launched National Cancer Awareness Day. The day coincides with the birth anniversary of eminent French-Polish scientist Madame Curie. She is known for her discovery of radium and.polonium and contribution to the fight against cancer.
3. ETIM removed from list of terror organisations
The US government has removed the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) from its list of terrorist organizations after nearly two decades. The group had been removed from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) in accordance with the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). East Turkestan is the name preferred by Uyghurs to refer to their traditional homeland in the XUAR.
4. Y.K. Sinha to take oath as CIC
Information Commissioner Yashvardhan Kumar Sinha will be administered the oath as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) on 7 Nov. Sinha joined as the Information Commissioner on January 1, 2019. He has served as India’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka. Sinha is an Indian Foreign Service officer of the 1981 batch.
5. Kolhapur University develops UV-360 robot
In Maharashtra, Shivaji University in Kolhapur has taken a lead in developing a UV-360 Sanitizer Module Robot. The Robot now kept at Nagpur will play an effective role in disinfecting the places which are usually crowded by people. The robot which weighs 20 kilograms can disinfect a 100 square feet room in less than five minutes.
6. Harry Kane scored his 200th goal
Harry Kane netted his 200th goal for Tottenham Hotspur as it won 3-1 at Ludogorets and AC Milan’s 24-match unbeaten run ended with a 3-0 loss to Lille in the Europa League. Regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, Kane is known for his prolific goalscoring record and ability to link play.
7. 4th Indo-Philippines Joint Bilateral Co meet
India and the Philippines held the 4th meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation virtually on November 6. The meeting was co-chaired by Indian External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar and Secretary of the Philippines Dept. of Foreign Affairs Theodore Locsin. They agreed to further strengthen defence engagement and maritime cooperation between the two countries.
8. HMDA builds satellite bus terminal
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority is building a satellite bus terminal near Harini Vanasthali Park for inter- and interstate buses. Every day about 30,000 passengers board in the direction of Nalgonda, Khammam, Vijayawada and other places here in RTC and private buses. The satellite bus terminal, designed to handle 16,650 passengers per day, will be built at a cost of 10 cr.
9. Yadav first uncapped player to score 2000 runs
Suryakumar Yadav became the first player to feature in 100 IPL matches and score over 2,000 runs in the league before making an international debut. Suryakumar Yadav achieved two unique landmarks during Ml’s Qualifier 1 match vs DC. The MI batsman is now the 1st player to play 100 IPL matches without making international debut. Suryakumar is one of the eight players to score over 450 runs.
10. UP’s Chandauli tops district rankings
Chandauli district of UP has topped the rankings of aspirational districts by Niti Aayog for Sept 2020. Bokaro and Purbi Singhbhum (Jharkhand) have been placed at 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively. The aspirational districts programme aims to transform districts that have shown relatively lesser progress in key social areas and have emerged as pockets of under-development.
11. SBl partners with Paytm
State Bank of India has partnered with digital payments platform Paytm to launch contactless credit cards. The duo has launched two models of the credit cards. Paytm SBI Card and Paytm SBI Card SELECT Available on the Visa platform, the cards offer smart app features and also provide superior rewards & benefits for its users.
12. Karnataka govt signs agreement with Tata Tech
The Government of Karnataka has entered into an agreement with Tata Technologies to upgrade 150 Govt ITls at a cost of Rs 4,636.50 cr. Along with Tata Technologies, about 20 other companies are contributing 4,080 cr rupees from their CSR funds for this programme. The remaining 657 crore rupees will be provided by the State Government. Each ITI will be upgraded at the cost of Rs 30 cr each.
13. Kerala set to receive central funds
Kerala will receive the central funds for literacy programmes as it is now part of the union government’s ambitious literacy drive “Padhna Likhna Abhiyan’ the reading and writing campaign. The core objective of the scheme is to impart functional literacy and numeracy to 57 lakh non-literate and non-numerate adults in both rural and urban areas in the age group of 15 years and above.
14. Kosovo President resigns
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has resigned from office after facing charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Thaci served as a political leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) during Kosovo’s fight for independence in 1998-99. Joining him on the military plane were Kadri Veseli, leader of Thaci’s Democratic Party, and Kosovo member of parliament Rexhep Selimi.
15. Gyanendro Ningomban: Hockey India president
Manipur’s Gyanendro Ningombam became the first president of Hockey India from the North East region after he was elected unopposed. He replaces Mohd Mushtaque Ahmed, who was elected as the senior vice-president. Gyanendro, who was elected for a term of 2 years, has served as the CEO of Manipur Hockey between 2009 and 2014 and has been associated with Manipur Hockey for over a decade.
15. Two-day exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’ begins
A two-day joint coastal security exercise, “Sagar Kavach” was launched at Paradip Coast on 5 Nov 2020. The exercise is being carried out by a joint effort of the state of Odisha and West Bengal governments. More than 10 such departments, including the Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard, the Odisha Police, have joined the joint exercise. It will be held for two days on November 5 and 6.
17. Andhra Cabinet approves new sand policy
The Andhra Pradesh cabinet has approved the news and policy. The cabinet accepted to recommend that all sand Reaches be handed over to a single entity. The Cabinet Sub-Committee recommended that it be handed over to a reputed private company and suggested that the process be carried out through open tender.
18. Haryana state assembly passes a bill
The Haryana Assembly has passed a bill to give 75 per cent reservation in the private sector to job seekers from the state. The Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Bill, 2020 provides the quota for local people in private-sector jobs that offer a salary of less than Rs 50,000 a month. Only 10% of the recruitment by a company needs to be from the district in which it is located.
19. Second National Water Awards to be conferred

20. HIL signs MOU with Department of Chemicals
HIL (India) Limited has signed an MoU with the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals to achieve the revenue target of Rs 451 crore in the current financial year ( 2020-21). The company has manufactured 530.10 MT of Malathion Technical in the first 2 quarters as compared to 375.5 MT in the corresponding period last year (CPLY), which is the highest ever production since its inception.
21. Chacha Chaudhary: Ambassador Namami Gange
Chacha Chaudhary has joined hands with Namami Gange Programme, an Integrated Conservation Mission. It will accomplish the objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Ganga. Diamond Toons will conceptualize and publish this new Talking Comics with Chacha Chaudhary spreading awareness on the cultural and spiritual significance of River Ganga.
22. India conducts major tri-Service exercise
A special tri-Service combat exercise called “Bull Strike” was conducted by the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC). The high-voltage exercise, with assets and manpower from the Army, Navy and IAF as well as Para-SF and marine commandos, was conducted November 3 to 5, 2020. The combat manoeuvres included combat free-fall and para-drop from C-130J “Super Hercules” strategic airlift aircraft.
23. Snam ties up with Adani Group and Greenko
Greenko and Adani Group have separately tied up with Italy’s Snam Sp.A. for setting up a green hydrogen business. Greenko has tied up with Snam for setting up a 50-50 joint venture to develop a “green hydrogen” business in India. A non-binding deal was also inked betweern Snam and Adani Gas to set up a CNG compressors manufacturing unit.
24. UPI AutoPay facility for mutual fund
Angel Broking has become the first in the industry to offer Unified Payment Interface AutoPay for mutual funds. It has received approval from the National Payments Corporation of India for the new service. This new implementation will simplify the process while cutting down the e-mandate authentication time to less than a minute. It will eliminate the e-mandate registration cost as well.
25. DOT removes 33 illegal mobile network boosters
The Wireless Monitoring Organisation, part of the Dept of Telecommunications has taken down 33 illegal mobile network boosters. TheseThese boosters were removed and more such
equipment identified during a raid conducted by the organisation. TheseThese illegal repeaters are installed by individuals or establishments at homes, offices to boost mobile signals.
26. SBI integrates Yono Krishi with IFFCO eBazar
State Bank of India has facilitated the integration of Yono Krishi with IFFCO eBazar under its Mandi section. TheThe bank’s Yono Krishi platform has been catering to all the farmers’ agricutural needs, from sowing to harvesting. With this integration, the farmer customers of the bank can avail free home delivery of all farming related products in over 27,000 locations from IFFCO eBazar portal.
27. Aspirin to be tested as potential COVID drug
Painkiller aspirin will be evaluated as a possible treatment for COVID-19 in one of Britain’s biggest trials. The trials will assess whether it might reduce the risk of blood clots in people with the disease. TheThe RECOVERY trial website informed that Aspirin is an antiplatelet agent and can reduce the risk of clots.
28. Routematic raises $2 million from Bosch
Routematic (Nivaata Systems Pvt Ltd) has raised a fresh round of funding from Bosch Ltd, the German auto-parts maker. Routematic is an urban mobility startup that helps augment corporate transportation, Investment in Nivaata Systems Private Limited (Routematic) up to 714% of the Capital on fully diluted basis, aggregates to an amount not exceeding Rs. 148 Million ( 14.8 crore or $2 mn).
29. Vidisha Maitra elected to UN’s ACABQ
Indian diplomat Vidisha Maitra has been elected to the UN’s Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions(ACABQ). Maitra won with 126 UN members supporting her candidature for the only post for the Asia-Pacific group while 64 voted for the opposing candidate who was from Iraq. IndiaIndia has been a member of the committee since its inception in 1946.
30. BBIL to manufacture vaccine in Odisha
Bharat Biotech International Ltd or BBIL is going to manufacture 10 types of vaccines in its upcoming unit in Odisha. TheThe company has taken up the development and production of new or improved vaccines against severe Rotavirus Diarrhoea, Malaria, Japanese Encephalitis, Rabies, Pandemic Influenza, and drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The total investment would be around Rs. 300 crores.
31. Website for Atal Medical and Research Univ.
In Himachal Pradesh, the website for Atal Medical and Research University Ner Chowk, in Mandi district was launched by CM Jai Ram Thakur, on 6 Nov 2020. ItIt would go a long way in the field of research and medical education. TheThe University would also help in better coordination between the medical colleges of the State. Counselling for NEET would also be held here from 2021 onwards.
32. Harsh Vardhan Shringla on visit to Maldives
Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla will be on a two-day visit to the Maldives from 9 Nov 2020. TheThe visit will be the first high-level in personal interaction between the two sides since the disruption caused by COVID19 pandemic. During the visit, the Foreign Secretary will review the entire gamut of bilateral ties and will also review the progress of ongoing bilateral projects.
33. PM Modi to flag off Ro-Pax service
PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Ro-Pax terminal at Hazira and flag off Ro-Pax service between Hazira and Ghogha in Gujarat on 8 Nov 2020. HeHe will also interact with local users of the service during the event. Hazira-Ghogha Ro-Pax ferry service will work as a Gateway to South Gujarat and Saurashtra region. It will reduce the distance between Ghoghaand Hazira from 370 km to 90 km.
34. Over 42,000 cr disbursed to Defence personnel
An amount of over Rs 42,740 cr has been disbursed to 20,60,220 Defence Forces pensioners and family pensioners since the implementation of One Rank One Pension- OROP. The Central govt took the historic decision to implement OROP in November 2015 and the benefit was given from 1st of July, 2014. OROP beneficiaries also got the benefit of fixation of pension under 7th Central Pay Commission.
35. 20th Summit of SCO Council of Heads of States
PM Narendra Modi will lead the Indian delegation to the 20th Summit of SCO Council of Heads of States, which will be held virtually on 10 November 2020. The meeting will be chaired by President of Russia Vladimir Putin. This will be the first SCO Summit to be held in a virtual format and this is the third meeting that India will be participating as a full member.
36. 360 degree video-immersive experience
Minister of Science and Technology Dr Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the 360-degree video-immersive experience in a circular dome and Digital Exhibits on Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi.
This was part of the two-year-long commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He highlighted the efforts of the Ministry for developing digital tools to spread the values of Gandhiji.
37. 42 Anti-cancer drugs showed price reduction
526 brands of 42 anti-cancer drugs showed price reduction up to 90 per cent following National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority. NPPA’s price rationalisation initiated in Feb 2019. NPPA had launched a Pilot on Trade Margin Rationalisation for 42 anti-cancer drugs as a step towards making the healthcare more affordable for cancer patients. The Pilot has led to an annual saving of Rs 984Cr.
38. India and Italy sign 15 agreements
India and Italy signed 15 agreements in various sectors following a Virtual Bilateral Summit. The agreements signed will provide for cooperation in a diverse range of areas including energy, green energy, shipbuilding and media sector. The Summit provided an opportunity for the two leaders to comprehensively review the broad framework of the bilateral relationship.
39. India gets mega infra loan from Germany
German development bank KfW has approved a loan of €545 mn to the Union finance ministry to fund Mumbai’s Metro Line 4 and Line 4A. It is KfW’s single largest credit line to an infrastructure project in India. TheThe credit package from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)-KfW consists of a development loan of €345 mn and a promotional loan of €200 mn.
40. MM Kutty: Chairperson Air Quality Commission
Former Secretary of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dr M. M. Kutty, has been appointed chairperson of the newly set up Commission for Air Quality Management in the National capital Region and Adjoining areas. Arvind Nautiyal has been appointed as a full-time member of the commission and Ramesh K.J, former DG IMD and Professor Mukesh Khare of IIT-Delhi as full-time technical members.
41. Australia signs deals with Novavax, Pfizer
The Australian govt has signed agreements
with Novavax and a consortium of companies, Pfizer and BioNTech, to supply 50 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Under the agreements, Novavax will supply 40 million vaccine doses and Pfizer/BioNTech will provide 10 million vaccine doses. Vaccines from Novavax and Pfizer-BioNTech are expected to be available in Australia starting in early 2021.
