1. 14 November: World Diabetes Day

14 November of each year marks the celebration of World Diabetes Day. World Diabetes Day became an official UN day in 2006. Established in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation with support from WHO in response to growing concerns about the health and economic threat posed by diabetes. Theme 2020: “The Nurse And Diabetes”

2. 14 November: Children’s Day 2020

Children’s Day, every year is celebrated on November 14 across India. Also known as Bal Diwas. The day is marked on the birth anniversary of India’s former and first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, fondly addressed as ‘Chacha Nehru’ by kids. India observed Children’s Day on the same day as the United Nations before 1964 i.e., on November 20.

3. Ethiopia appoints new Tigray leader

Ethiopia’s parliament has appointed Dr Mulu Nega as the new Chief Executive of the Tigray region. The appointment comes a day after the parliament stripped Tigray president Debretsion Gebremichael, who was elected in September.

4. PMPML to use colour & QR codes

Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited has decided to use colour codes to make it easier for commuters to identify buses operating on specific routes. It will use QR codes to provide all information about its bus operations and services to commuters. Under this initiative, which the transport body has named CARISMA, 140 routes in the city have been coded using 15 different colours.

5. Delhi Launches App To Access E-Vehicle Service

The Delhi government came up with the “free of cost” faility with Health Minister Satyendar Jain launching the Jeevan Seva app. The app was launched in collaboration with EVERA-a cab services in Delhi-NCR. EVERA will use electric vehicles as ambulance to transfer non-critical cases to healthcare facilities within Delhi free of cost.

6. Journalist and Writer Ravi Belagere Dies

Noted journalist and writer Ravi Belagere died after suffering a heart attack. Belagere was a known name in Karnataka from his popular Kannada tabloid “Hi Bangalore” and more than 70 of his literary works including fiction, translation, storytelling, column writing and biography. He was known for his writings on the crime world and his column ‘Paapigala Lokadalli’.

7. Panasonic appoints Yuki Kusumi as CEO

Panasonic has appointed Yuki Kusumi as the company’s next chief executive officer, replacing Kazuhiro Tsuga who was the architect of a partnership with Tesla. Kusumi who is the company’s head of automotive business will start the new position on April 1. Tsuga will become chairman. He has been in the leadership role for eight years.

8. KTR inaugurates 24 Basthi Dawakhanas

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao inaugurated a Basthi Dawakhana in Ramreddy Nagar Basti, Habsiguda. The dawakhana will serve around 12,000 people (3000 households) in six slums of Habsigud. Furthermore, this month 50 Basthi Dawakhanas will be opened in different areas in the GHMC.

9. New species of vine snakes discovered

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) recently discovered five new species of vine snakes during their study in various parts of peninsular India. The team discovered that the common green vine snake (Ahaetulla nasuta) in India was a complex of several species. While four distinct smail-bodied and short-nosed species were found in the rainforests of the Western Ghats.

10. World record set in Ayodhya with lighting diya

5,84,572 diyas were lit up along the banks of Saryu river in Ayodhya on the occasion of ‘Deepotsav’, a day before Diwali. With this, the Guinness World Record for ‘the largest display of oil lamps’ was set, the Uttar Pradesh government confirmed. Last year, 4,04,026 earthen lamps were lit up in Ayodhya during ‘Deepotsav’ celebrations.

11. GHMC Mayor inaugurates modertn bus shelters

Mayor Dr Bonthu Rammohan inaugurated six modern bus shelters in Disulknagar division. These Bus shelters offer a wide range of amenities that include toilets, drinking water, mobile charging points, WiFi, dustbins, and closed-circuit television cameras, AC sitting areas and ticket counters. A total of 292 bus shelters have already been open for the public.

12. World’s Youngest Author And Grand Master

The 7-year-old Abhijita Gupta has been recognized as the world’s youngest author by the International Book of Records. While the Asia Book of Records has conferred on her title of the ‘Grandmaster in Writing. Her book titled ‘Happiness All Around’ is an anthology of short stories and poems with illustrations acclaimed globally.

13. Jaishankar to represent India at EAS summit

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will 14 Nov represent India at the 15th East Asia Summit. Which provides a platform for discussion on important strategic issues in the Indo-Pacific region. 2019, PM Narendra Modi had represented India at the EAS in Bangkok, Thailand. The virtual summit meeting will be chaired by the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and 18 EAS countries.

14. Bangladeshi teen wins children’s prize

A teenager in Bangladesh has won the International Children’s Peace Prize for his efforts to educate young people about cyberbullying. Sadat Rahman, 17, was inspired to create a mobile app to help young people report online abuse. Create a mobile app after hearing about a 15-year-old girl who took her own life because of bullying.

15. HDFC ERGO General Insurance Completes Merger

HDFC ERGO General Insurance (HDFC ERGO), announced the completion of the merger of HDFC ERGO Health Insurance with HDFC ERGO. Pursuant to the approval of the merger by National Company Law Tribunal and the receipt of final approval from IRDAI, the merger was given effect to on November 13, 2020. Post completion of the merger, HDFC will hold 50.58% stake in HDFC ERGO.

16. NTPC Develops Geo-Polymer aggr From Fly Ash

State-run power giant NTPC developed geo-polymer aggregates from fly ash, which stands on statutory parameters of Indian standards. NTPC Ltd NSE 0.72 % has successfully developed geo-polymer coarse aggregate from fly ash. The development will help in replacing natural aggregates, reducing the impact on the environment.

17. India Gets its First Sandalwood Museum

This first of a kind Sandalwood museum has been set by the Mysuru Forest Divison at the Sandalwood Depot in Aranya Bhavan, Mysuru. Visitors can learn about sandalwood classification, varieties of sandalwood, its farming methods, etc. It will also display posters with information about sandalwood growth and its role in the prevention of diseases.

18. MP CM launches roadmap to Aatma Nirbhar MP

Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched a roadmap to Aatma Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister said special attention will be given to education and health in self-sufficient Madhya Pradesh. A network of hospitals will be established across the state for this purpose. The Mukhya Mantri Rural Street Vendor Scheme has been launched by the state gov.

19. QRSAM Missile System Achieves Major Milestone

Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile
(QRSAM) System has achieved a major
milestone by a direct hit on to a Banshee
Pilotless target aircraft at medium range and medium altitude. Ministry of Defence in a statement said that the missile launch took place from ITR Chandipur at 3.30 PM off the Odisha Coast. The missile is propelled by a single stage solid propellant rocket motor.
